   At university, I pursued two separate bachelor's degrees with the dream of becoming an arts & culture critic/travel writer (at the time I professed to become a "female Anthony Bourdain"). I finished a Bachelor's of Journalism at the reknowned Missouri School of Journalism, having studied multimedia reporting, arts critique, magazine editing, and my capstone course in advanced writing under Professor Emeritus Berkley Hudson. I also worked as a contributing writer at Vox Magazine on the Eat & Drink and City Life beats, as well as writing profiles and reviews for the True/False Documentary Film Festival for three seasons. Along with my degree in Journalism, I pursued a minor in Geography for the sake of my passion for people, resources, and history, and I completed a Bachelor's of Studio Art as a means of understanding all faculties of the art world, including a curatorial internship at Sager-Braudis Gallery in Columbia, Missouri, where I worked behind the scenes in event coordination, client relationships, and artist recruitment research.

 

   In the summer of 2019, I interned at Portland Monthly Magazine, where I was a proactive fact-checker, article writer, assitant editor, and deck brainstormer. What I absorbed from this experience was the changing landscape of magazine journalism, and the grit it takes to commit to a lifestyle of balance. Among gatheirng true stories, sastifying readership, and fufilling advertizer's presence, I wasn't 100% sure if this was the life for me. I felt more compelled to the creative side, crafing marketing copy and ideating storylines. I soldiered on to the finish line of my degrees.

 

   Unfortunately following my university graduation in May of 2020, the COVID market wasn't very open to new-comers, and like most of us experiencing an unprecedented time in history, I had a bit of an identity crisis. Evaluating and re-evaluating my needs and desires, I set my sights on gathering new experiences exploring the world outside of an American bubble. I moved to Prague, Czech Republic in July of 2021, and have since spent my last three years exploring new opportunities, learning new skills, and expanding my network of friends and colleagues. As an English teacher, I have instructed students of all ages, eventually settling on a specialty in advanced writing and conversation skills within post-secondary (age 18-24) education. 

 

   Every spring I led Cambridge language exam preparation courses, and I regularly organized advanced writing seminars in academic and creative writing. I also acted as lead teacher in multiple courses, in which I set the syllabus, coordinated with my co-teachers, and guided new teachers through the system and methodology of the coursework. The most rewarding aspect of this experience was realizing my natural sense of leadership and my ability to connect with people, especially my teen and young-adult students who regulary sought my advice and knowledge. It is such a feeling to know that the work I do now can stay with someone for the rest of their life and potentially alter the course of their future. I felt that sense of responsibility and did not take it lightly.

  Throughout my European experience, I also took on other activities and business endeavors (see my resume page for details), but now I feel ready to move on the next stage of my professional development and re-enter the world of professional writing and content creation. I feel equipped with a diverse range skills, and I am filled with a passion to keep learning whatever necessary to develop into a new role. As I ride the wave of life, I hope to find a company with whom we can both grow with grace into the future.
